OAKWOOD ART KITS!

IMG-2783.JPG

Oakwood Art Kits provide instructions and materials to help K-5 students complete a hands-on creative project at home! Each Art Kit will fuel imagination, help students remain connected to their school community and curriculum and introduce them to different creative careers in arts and media.

In collaboration with Richmond’s Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, Oakwood Arts is providing 2nd - 5th grade students with Art Kits to help support after-school learning and fun! Oakwood Arts staff join the students virtually to help lead them through the week's activity.

Are you a parent or student who would like to work on an Art Kit? If you are based in Richmond, grab a free Art Kit from the OA Park Giving Library at 3511 P Street. For everyone else, check out the latest Art Kit instructions below and get started! You will only need some basic art supplies and your creative spirit!

The Oakwood Arts Art Kits and Giving Library are made possible by a generous gift from the Bryan and Kathryn Harvey Memorial Endowment. We hope the contents will spark creativity and joy, honoring the memories of Bryan, Kathy, Stella, and Ruby Harvey.

This series of #oakwoodartskit will be inspired by the field of Psychology & Mental Health, created to bring awareness to psychological and mental health disorders affecting the lives of many in our community while also using art as a form of expression.

HISTORY OF THE ART KIT PROJECT…

The Oakwood Art Kit project was originally created by Oakwood Arts in response to Richmond Public Schools (RPS) closing as a result of COVID-19 in March 2020. Oakwood Arts' primary goal is to serve our community, and we worked tirelessly during the pandemic to continue making art and creative careers accessible to all through new projects, resources, and partnerships. Oakwood Arts independently packed and distributed more than 600 kits through RPS distribution sites. To learn more about Creativity Kits go here.
